A. 1858 in France and in Rome.  Ineffabilis Deus:  “The most Blessed Virgin Mary, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin.”

B. events of Lourdes:

 

            February 11:  first trance

                           14:  returned to Grotto; trance

                           15:  “I don’t promise to make you happy in this world, but the next.”

            Late Feb.:  Lourdes spring appears

            March 2:  13th apparition; Aquiro asks Bernadette to build a chapel

            March 25:  “Que soy era Immaculada Councepcio”

            July 16:  Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel; final apparition
